Start, pause and resume a campaign

Launch a campaign, pause it without losing planned emails, and resume it later. What Draft, Active, Paused and Auto-paused mean and what happens on resume.

Campaign statuses

Status Meaning
Draft Not launched yet.
Active Sending each day's plan.
Paused Launched before, not sending now.
Auto-paused Paused by Signalsant because the mailbox lost access. See Auto-paused campaigns.

Launch

On the Review & launch step, click Launch campaign. Signalsant plans today's emails, or tomorrow's if today's sending hours are over, and opens the Schedule tab. See Review and launch a campaign.

Pause

Click Pause in the campaign's header, or Pause on the Email tab.

  • Emails that are already being sent finish.
  • Nothing else is sent while the campaign is paused, except emails you send yourself with Send now or Retry now on the Schedule tab.
  • Planned emails stay on the Schedule tab; nothing is lost.

Resume

Click Resume in the header, or Start on the Email tab.

  • Planned emails whose time has passed are moved into the next open slots, starting today, without going over Companies a day.
  • If nothing is planned for today or later, Signalsant plans today.

If everyone has already been contacted, you'll see "Started, but everyone in the audience has been contacted". See Resends and rounds.

There's no separate Stop: pause a campaign to stop it, or delete it to remove it.

Who can do this

Changing a campaign needs the Moderator role or higher.

Troubleshooting

  • The campaign shows "Access to this mailbox was revoked": reconnect the mailbox first. See Reconnect a mailbox.
  • Resumed but nothing sends: check the Schedule tab. Emails go out only during your sending hours.
  • "This campaign's channel is stopped. Start it to send messages.": you tried Send now in the Outbox while the campaign was paused. Resume it first.
